Depends on the beard in my opinion. If it's neat and taken care of its not bad, I'm personally a fan of stubble on guys.

Depends. More info would be good. My general guideline with any head, body, or facial hair is at least function, and that any hair that is there should at least appear “clean” and well kept. Trimmed to an even length or taper and not matted or a kilter. Stray hairs plucked or waxed, and certain areas given special consideration of functions like eating, sweating, waste excretion, and other activities. Areas where another persons sensitive parts are likely to contact or be close to should be waxed/plucked/trimmed/shaved to minimize the possible contamination of accumulated bodily products or trapped food etc.; as well as groomed to preven tickling, poking, transfer of stray hair, etc. style should suite your appearance and personality, but in general a level of care should be observable. But your body, your rules. Just my .02 on my perspective.

I know some people don't mind them, and a lot of cultures find them important, but long beards are a huge turn off to me. Stubble, or short beards are fine, and can look really good, depending on the guy. But everyone has their own preferences
As a side note, I just learned some guys moisturize their beards, which isn't all that relevant, just not something I'd ever even thought about before. Beards seem to require a decent amount of maintenance, whether you shave them or not
