I don’t think there are cities split by timezones, they probably pick one timezone for the whole city

That’s a good question. Even if there are no cities split by time zones, there are most definitely towns that border each other where one is an hour ahead or an hour beind... what if you live in one place but work in the other? That would get confusing as hell.

It's more of a subtle shift as you move. There are general lines that define where each one begins and ends.

I was on the border of Portugal and Spain recently. Portugal is GMT, whereas Spain is GMT+1. We were constantly moving between countries and so we had to have two watches to make things easier: one with Spanish time, one with Portugese. Since it was only a one hour difference, it wasn’t too big of a deal, and you got used to it pretty quickly.
