Your sister is super cute :3
When I enter an amount, it only let's me donate a small part of that? Where does the rest go? To the website?
hermionegranger · 5 years ago
Yeah they have a fee, that’s how they make their money
hermionegranger · 5 years ago
It’s ok though
thatguyyouknow · 5 years ago
Why should we donate so you can get your sister toys, get a job and earn your own money
bethorien · 5 years ago
why should humans help humans? do a {thing} and get the {reward} yourself
this sentiment is why we have as many homeless people as we do.
moth · 5 years ago
the problem is, not everybody can afford to help everybody who needs it. how do we choose who to help and who not to help?
bethorien · 5 years ago
this is incorrect. As a country (america) and as a planet we have the funds and resources to help everyone. This however cannot happen because of the above sentiment. The example i used (homeless people) is a very good one. Because of the sentiment of "oh i worked for my home and paid for it myself everyone should have to earn it themselves because I did and not take money from hardworking people like me to get their home" the amount of homeless people is what it is. Not only is this sentiment stupid but it's also economically stupid. It would be cheaper per tax payer to house the homeless in a temp housing district that isn't just a shit shelter with a blanket for a bed as it would statically increase the amount of homeless people that get the jobs they need to be able to not need support from the rest of us.
This stupidity can be transferred onto almost anything else with the same sentiment blocking something from happening.

Well instead of waiting until Christmas for people to donate money she should go get a job and earn the money herself instead of asking strangers for it who might not have the money
bethorien · 5 years ago
Maybe jaded people who replace their lack of money with adversarial tone and masked inadequacy should avoid unmasking it by making such stupid comments

No 2-year-old needs $275 in gifts they will never remember. I'm with @thatguyyouknow. Sorry, not sorry
thatguyyouknow · 5 years ago
If you're wanting to get your sister a bike why not try and go for a 2nd hand one or just wait until you can afford one yourself
bethorien · 5 years ago
She's using go fund me literally exactly what its meant to be used for. Take your broken and antiquated ideals somewhere else.
thatguyyouknow · 5 years ago
So what you're telling us is we should give money to everyone that asks for it
bethorien · 5 years ago
What im saying is that telling people to not ask for money is fucking retarded
kissalinda · 5 years ago
Well people asking for money dont always need said money, I have seen street beggars with Apple watches and expensive name brand clothing. People are sometimes sceptical to help because there are people who take advantage of others kindess in this way. While all of us would like to help anyone who needed help, we all have limited income. Its not possible for us to help everyone sometimes. In this case especially, the problem is people are sceptical. In neither this post or the go fund me is there any sort of explanation. If she said she was unable to get a job or perhaps her family fell on hard times, then people would be far more likely to help. On the other hand if she said " I want a Nintendo switch but I'm too lazy to work" people probably would rather help someone who needs it more. Sometimes its difficult to tell if someone needs help or is taking advantage of other people's kindess.

We all have limited income, donating to local shelters, buying presents for less fortunate kids, and helping our friend here may not be in the budget. But I'm sure people would be happy to help but maybe giving a bit more insight might help ease any worry that they have when donating.

Y'all... she asked for some money for her sister for Christmas. Donate. Don't donate. But if you want to turn this into a shit-storm and debate about whether humans are fundamentally good or evil it might be better to start an independent chat
