Honestly, being a guy, it's hard to tell without knowing the person's personality. He could be a jerk, he could be a nice guy, he could be anything. I can't really tell you much, and I doubt anyone else really could.
All I can suggest is getting to know him, and him getting to know you, so he can see how awesome you are.

Just be around him as much (talk to him too) as you can without being all creeper. When someone sees you around more often, they tend to see you as more reliable and dependable. Then it'll just escalate.
