I'm doing fine, but I'm pretty sure he isn't. And it's totally not like me to act this egotistically. But I had to. I love him and still do, but I've met someone I have EVERYTHING in common with. And I mean everything. He's me in male.
I couldn't have let that one get away.
It felt so brutal though and I feel bad for my ex. But also I feel like being really really badly in love for the first time in my life, I feel like I'm in a movie or something.
Also we've been in the same primary school class and then lost contact for 16 years.

It happens. It fucking sucks, and though it's none of my business it doesn't sound like you made the decision lightly, and I do hope you were as kind as possible about it (and since you care about him I'm sure you were).

At the end of the day in your situation it comes down to one thing, really:
Is it crueller to rip the band-aid off now, or keep him building his life around a lie?

I mean, maybe things would have worked out. But more than likely you'd have always felt like you missed something. You may have started to resent him for it, only to end up breaking up later in a much uglier fashion, and then he'd have opportunities he'd missed out on in which maybe he could have found someone who makes you as happy as your new guy

Hopefully he has some support system in place so he can sort through it all and come out on the other side

I'm very tired so hopefully none of this comes across as a scolding or anything since that's not what I'm going for even a tiny bit
