It's dystopian. It's been a bit since I read it but it was kind of mystery/adventure-ish. Jennifer is the protagonist and she's a federal agent trying to solve murders. I think murder is what started it. Ugh sorry for the terrible description.

No, people just have automated things. That's stops mostly after the first two days.
And you can go to settings to have it set from one every two days or two each day ( and in between that amount )

Okay, everyone, I am a 4-year veteran of NationStates, and here's what I have to say.
Make a new nation, a name that hasn't already been used, that's out of the way.
Past that, you have to answer a number of questions to decide what your Nation will start out with, if it'll be a psychotic dictatorship, or what.
You will get four issues off the bat to deal with, all of which will probably be different.
In the "Settings" page, you can change how many issues you get and how often. I have mine set to "Two a day"
If you have it set at that, which is default, you get two a day. Depending on where you live, you get them every twelve hours. Like for me, it's 11:01 a.m. and 11:01 p.m. and I live in the Central Eastern Timezone in North America
At the start, you will get spammed with messages or "Telegrams"
Those are just recruitment, you can ignore them. Explore the world, find a place to settle, and see if you like the people there.

I'm finding it interesting because I'll make a choice and find unintended consequences. I think it's helping me have a bit more grace for our representatives irl. It's hard to truly stick to the method I want to.
