So for those of you who are either in high school or college, what are you aspiring / studying to be career-wise?

Still figuring out the details but probably a poly Sci major with some marketing and economics, and then run for first local legislator to a mayor to a state legislator to governor to federal legislator to (if I even get this far) the president. Maybe dabble in social justice a bit afterwards, whether by bringing supreme, federal, state, or local judge.

You're not the first person to say that, but no one seems to know why they think I'm an old soul lol.

I probably have an old soul face because I work 80ish hours a week and don't sleep much. Bowties, however are all the rage in my social circles.
And FWIW, my username should be theodore_rex but I didn't think to put in the _ ... It's a hat tip to Theodore Roosevelt, my favorite president/manly role model.

So Theodore, what exactly does a fixed income reader do?

Fixed income securities include bonds, loans, and derivatives, which include interest rate products as well as corporate and credit products. The simple explanation of what I do is trade that debt with banks, with the debt subsequently being traded for liquidity on the secondary market. The firm I work for specializes in providing capital funding to the health-care, senior-living and housing sectors. In addition to underwriting tax-exempt and taxable bond offerings, we provide orgs a complete range of funding options through our Fannie Mae/FHA/GNMA USDA-approved mortgage lender subsidiary. My team is responsible for structuring and trading all asset classes of securities that are originated by our company. FI trading is a less flashy, relatively no nonsense branch on finance. I spend most days on the phone facilitating trades or on excel making financial models for particular securities.

The hours are the hardest part of the job... I am the youngest on the trade desk so I’m responsible for the grunt work that my superiors don’t want to do, because of this I often work 80 hours over a seven day work week.
