I don't plan on voting. I'll be away at school during the election, and I don't think I'm registered to vote yet

Hang on explain the difference then if you will? I was under the impression that legalize and decriminalize meant the same thing.

Bernie (although I'm not old enough to vote, although just barely) because
1) His taxes make sense
2) Are near all completely funded by his tax proposals with a minor deficit
3) it's time for America to join the rest of the world in basic things like tax payer funded healthcare and tuition free public universities
4) he wants to rebuild our infrastructure which is something I hold near to me, 2 of my friends have almost died from lack of road maintenance
5) I'd like to smoke a bong once and see how it feels
6) He wants to get money out of politics and make the US a rep democracy again, not an oligarchy like it is now.
7) He wants to get out if the middle east, which we fucking need to do already
8) His plans may hinder growth to a small extent, but they would ensure a stable growth instead if the boom-bust cycle the US is on track to be with the policies we have now.
9) He would pull the US spectrum back to the left, more similar to Canada or Sweden than Russia

I can't vote but I'm going with Bernie.

Decriminalize means that if you're caught possessing it you won't go to jail as a convicted felon which makes it impossible for you to get a job later contributing to poverty levels in bigger cities like Chicago. I think bernie's plan would give people a fine instead of a conviction for possession
Legalization means anyone can have it with no penalty whatsoever.

Ah okay. I'm confused why you wouldn't just legalize it and tax it though...
ruinedeffect · 8 years ago
I mean that could be an option too

People will smoke it anyways. I don't see the problem. It's basically you give them the option to give the government money for smoking weed (taxing it) or you steal their money for smoking it (fines)

true. i guess the line of thinking is that if marijuana is legalized, usage will go up significantly, especially with younger demographics, so if it's only decriminalized, then there is a potentially lower risk of more people having access to it. that being said, there's always the problem of people getting the drugs anyway so either way works really

Exactly. Government regulation would make it safer than getting it on the street, taxing it would benefit the country, and it pretty much only has positive effects. Of course yes it's not awesome for your lungs if you breath anything other than air or oxygen but it's mostly good. In moderation. I did a debate on legalization for a government class. I won. I learned a whole lot.

yeah i was gonna say that there would be potential medical issues too but that is really the only thing

And it's fun. (I assume at least from how many people do it) and I mean roller coasters are fun. They're legal. You pay for them.

I'm future military, so I've never done any of that. But a lot of my friends have.
the_gayming_singer · 8 years ago
I guess we're done talking about presidential candidates.
Time for some weed \m/
deleted · 8 years ago
Well not necessarily, I'd still like to hear who people are voting for.

But yes, weed

I'm not an American, but if I were I think I'd vote for Bernie, from what I've heard he's the most reasonable candidate, and he also supported Irish political prisoners a few years back. I disagree with his stance on marijuana legalisation, but oh well

I'm voting for Bernie
