I can explain further if needed.

I used to keep listening coz I liked the songs and the feelings of missing the person/anger,etc in that time, and then Id reach a point where I just stopped listening to it coz it bored me or I didn't feel like listening to that kind of music (genre). When I did go back to listen to it from time time, it didn't feel the same as before so I could listen without the annoying feelings.
It just takes some time To get over parts of ur memories otherwise u can force it by completely not touching the music for a long time. U will never forget anything completely so it's up to u.

The thing is, is that she introduced me to the music. So to me there will always be a connection between her and the music. When I listen to it, I don't miss her but I just think about her and I don't want to. I actually did take a long break from the music for about a year. At first the thought of her wasn't there but suddenly she pops up in my head again and I don't know why. I want to forget but I fear that if I keep listening to the music I'll never forget and If I do stop listening, I'll be able to forget but I'll never be able to enjoy the music again.

Oh and the music I'm talking about is Lana Del Rey.
deleted · 8 years ago
I understand.
But this is very difficult to give advice for that will actually work. Yes there will always be that connection, and no you can't stop her from coming into your mind when listening. Lana Del Rey has a majority of her songs that make you contemplate life with quite a few songs being really depressing. The fact that you did swap the music style for a year yet still didn't do much just shows that you have to accept it and give it time. Accept it as in when you do listen (make sure its only from time to time) you will think about her and you remember stuff between the 2 okay, but don't dwelve in deeply. It won't help. Remember and move on to other songs. Or when listening, do something else at the same time like go for a run around your house/park, etc. The key is to give it time. You won't forget completely but you won't think as much as you do now. Try it and be patient.

Even though you said it's hard to give advice that actually works, I think the advice you gave me is actually pretty good. Most of the time I listen to Lana Del Rey while I'm lying in bed or when I'm not doing anything, so my mind just wanders off and it ends up back at her. I also listen to Lana Del Rey pretty much daily, which now that I think of it is too much. Like you said, I should start listening to her less and when I do I should be doing stuff. I'm sure that if I listen to her while cleaning, doing dishes, or doing work, that I'll only be focused on the task at hand. And I've got to start listening to Lana Del Rey way less. I'm sure that if I follow your advice and give it time that it will all get better. You know I just want to thank you for trying to help me and giving me advice. You don't know how much I appreciate this. Most other people, even some "friends", don't really care. So thank you for the advice.

You are very welcome nick. Really I am just sorry there wasn't more helpful advice I could give. Everything I have said is how its worked for me so I hope it will be the same for you too. Let me know how it goes and if there is anything else, it would be my pleasure to help you or just if you want to talk about anything you know I am here.
I wish you all the best and take care of yourself.

Well it's only been a day but I think it's going pretty good so far. I only listened to two Lana Del Rey songs today. I really am trying to limit myself now. But I wanted to ask if you have any music recommendations. I'm trying to find other music but I don't really know what to listen to. I've got a few playlists but I want to listen to something new. Anything would be helpful. Again I just want to say thank you for the advice and for the continued support that you're offering me. It might now seem like a big deal to you, but for me it is and your help and support mean a lot.

Wow that's a lot of music to check out. But High By the Beach is a great song, it's one of my favorite on the album. You should listen to Freak. Right now that's my favorite song from her Honeymoon album. Thanks for the music recommendations. I wasn't expecting so much; you must of gone out out of your way to make this list. I was expecting 3 or 4 artists. But now I'm sure I'll be fine because I've got your advice and this huge list of music. You actually made this pretty easy for me and I can't thank you enough for that.

Breaking Benjamin is good I can second them.

Haha, yeah I wasn't sure what kind of artists you would like listening to. Your very welcome. I will listen to Freak tonight thanks.
If you like Lana so much then you should check out 'dynmk' playlists. Its all chill-out music by different singers, some not so famous as others but all have this unique style about them. I'm sure you will like the songs there.

Fam do me a fucking favor. Follow a simple rule "Bad bitches don't deserve my life". Dude she/he are fucking gone. Leave it be. Rock the fuck out to Lana and be a badass motherfucker. Just do your fucking thang wo/man. Do me a favour and listen to this song, it's basically about never giving into bullshit and facing your problem head on and not giving a shit about the consequence but with the cutest fucking lyrics and vocals ever : https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5QQ0ebVrLQw
ENJOY YOUR LIFE WO/MAN, YOU DESERVE IT. DON'T LET THE THOUGHT OF SOME HAG/DOUCHEBAG RUIN THE AMAZING ART THAT IS MUSIC!
