What do you wanna do? Because, let's be honest, it's hella expensive for international students to come to the US to study. Not only expensive, but it can be stressful. It's a lot better if you have people that are willing to let you stay with them while you do your higher education. You have to do bunch of paperwork too, and many require you have a specific type of health insurance during your stay. I'm sure you might be aware of some of these things, just giving you heads up.
In my university, several of our international students are actually graduates, mostly because they are following the professor they want to work under than anything else.

I wouldn't do it if I were you unless you had a specific school in mind. To do it just to do it is a large waste. Like loveless said, it's really expensive, it would depend a lot on what you wanna do.
