Yh ur right they should. But each professor wants to mark their side of the questions from the exam if the student answered it. It's not 1 person marking 1 paper, and plus they know if they should award the student marks for it or not. Since this isn't highschool not all answers have to be exact, as long as they understand what ur trying to say (my Chemistry module needs to be accurate but Pharmacology and Analytical doesn't). They might be more lenient with us.

Volunteers might not know if the answer should still be allowed to be given marks since it wouldn't be their area of expertise. Probably this is the way they see it.

I was thinking department grad students could help, and there be a system where if they were unsure they'd give it to the professor, or grade the answers that have set correct answers. How does pharmacology not have to be accurate x.x when I took it we got docked for spelling errors

They could but for some reason they don't. Professors want to mark it themselves. Yes spelling does matter but only if you spell like the whole word completely wrong. If you mistake a letter they said they won't take off a full mark. Like I said they are more leniant. They want us to pass.

Bruh. Wish I had your professors. That's really cool though

What did you study?
deleted · 8 years ago
At the time, emergency medical care. I think that Prof was just really hard on us
deleted · 8 years ago
Probably. All profs are different you just gotta be lucky on who you have. And ur working now in this field?

No, I was really stupid, I failed my first online test for the nremt and just dropped out. Switched my major to something less useful
deleted · 8 years ago
Why did you leave it? Couldn't you have retaken it?
deleted · 8 years ago
I could have. At the time I was struggling with severe depression and anxiety, I felt like if I wasn't smart enough to pass it once I would never pass it, so what was the point? Everyone was disappointed I didn't ace it and I was afraid of failing again, and stupid me thought "I can't fail it again if I just don't do it". Big mistake on my part and 100% my fault.

Oh it must have been very tough. It's understandable coz of what was happening with you at the same time. Did you not talk to someone? And couldn't you pay for that test again the next year at a better time or it had to be that same yr? I can understand the reasoning.
This has past though. Are you happy with what ur doing now?
deleted · 8 years ago
So I could have technically taken it two weeks later. Up to x amount of times. I was too ashamed to talk to anyone, and I don't get help until I had already changed my major, which I did because I was too ashamed to tell my peers I didn't pass and I needed to graduate soon to avoid much more financial debt (it would have been two more years had I stuck with that program).
As for what I'm doing now, it's hard to find a job in my field in my current situation. I'm an anthropologist who can't travel at the moment. And there just isn't much of a need for them around where I live. But anthropology is my passion. So happy with field, not with nonexistent job

Oh I'm sorry to hear this. You really should have spoken, I mean there must've been other people to retake too. I know when you retake you defo don't want anybody knowing but you know, others are in the same boat. Retaking doesn't mean you did really badly coz you didn't know. Other stuff like say family problems could affect it. Who would know? You didn't have to tell them the truth.
But yh if you knew it was the right thing to do at the time especially with the expenses and now ur happy with this I'm glad. Hopefully you'll find work soon. Anthropology sounds really interesting. I think you study people in different societies?

I mean it all turned out in the end I guess. And thanks. Anthropology is quite the umbrella to an extent your right, and for me personally it's like the science of culture. The branch I'm in, cultural anthropology, and what I specifically like doing, focuses more on understanding American culture so as to inspire forgiveness of those who fear change while working with those who fear said change to be more accepting. My goal is to find a way for communities around where I live to have more healthy resources (I live in a very unhealthy area as far as nutrition is concerned) and then on the side I hope to shed light on something I call nerd culture, which encompasses fandoms, games, and things like that. Sorry for the lengthy explanation. Theres just so much i want to do! What is it you do?

Wow really cool! And no worries I wanted to know exactly what it is anyway. You would really be making a great change so good luck with everything.
Right now I'm just taking my last couple exams being 2nd yr of Pharmaceutical Science. I love lab work but I want to do research and get a PhD working part time as a university professor whilst also able to work on papers. I don't know if I should finish my last yr in October the Masters or take a placement yr then get back to study in 2017 and carry on with the rest..

And then do my Masters*
deleted · 8 years ago
Here we are told it's best to take a break between degrees. Get some experience in, and then when you're back in school you can draw from said experience and have more content to work with with your Masters. What kind of research do you want to do? Or just research in general?
deleted · 8 years ago
Not sure on the research yet so for now its more in general til I start getting interested in what I want to find.
Yeah I've heard that too. Especially after a placement they could employ you if they liked the way you worked for them. Problem is my parents just want me to finish as soon as possible and I know it will be difficult to continue with studies I might not want to go back to it. Like my mind won't be in the right frame of mind then. My next interview is in June so maybe I'll get parents to change their mind if its a good company/work place. And obvs I'll push myself to study again. We'll see.

Just watch yourself and don't get burned out if you go right to it. If you think you can retain everything going straight through would be awesome. But there's nothing wrong with waiting either
