I smashed my finger a few weeks ago, but instead of the whole nail dying, only a piece in the center broke. Now its grown to the point where it's able to get snagged and rip off. Should I try to cut it off?

Not the whole nail ... Only the part that's coming off.

I recommend being careful as to avoid getting an infection under your nail.
