From what I've heard and seen I believe you do have to be moving. The concept of the game is to make reality into the world of Pokémon and Ash never just sat around, ya'know?

I don't have an android but I've seen someone with an emulator to play a Pokémon game. But I wouldn't know of it, so I'd say search some forums and best of luck!

You can sit on the couch and play. I've caught at least five Pokemon once I got back from my walk, not moving. You'll enounter more if you walk or drive a car, but it works with just sits. It's more fun to walk though, I walked for an hour and didn't even realize how long it was. It's really fun at parks and on college campuses.

Did you have the app open on your phone? It doesn't work otherwise. Could also depend on your speed and such maybe? All I know is my friend has been doing that all day and he's gotten quite a few
