This is the biggest emergency crisis the island has had in over 30 years. It's horrible. Plus, there were like 5 shootings near one of the universities and the shooters went inside the campus and crap. Wednesday was pure chaos and something straight out of a movie. But thankfully things are starting to get back to normal!

That's what Puerto Rico is. Part of the United States (colony) but completely separate in many other ways. They have absolutely every right to participate in the Olympics separately. Being absorbed by the US would just be completely wrong.
Just be happy for them and for that poor girl. This is honestly a big deal.

Last math course I took there were 45 F's, 2 D's and 11 C's. (can honestly say it was the professor).
