"That wasn't the movie I wanted to see, I'm disappointed." If it was done well it would be "wow what a cool plot twist" and maybe a small amount of criticism from sexists. However if it were reversed as nande12 said, no matter whether it was done well or not, it would be seen as sexist and presenting men as "accomplishing what women could not". I agree this kind of stuff is crap because you've picked a battle in this situation where there is no room for argument without offence, and offence will often be taken by people who share the overly radical view of feminism in any media outlet that does not go out of it's way to say we are all equal, which is not a good way to shape society.

Jillaroo if you want to take the literal rode.. no it doesn't. Sexism exists, yes it does. I'm not against feminism at all and I accept almost everything in the wider community, as a male with two female sisters I love, mostly female cousins and friends, and a girlfriend, I'm not someone opposed to the feminist movement. But it does make it look weak when you clutch at straws like this rather than more meaningful inequalities. MOVIES as a whole do not see females as something that can just be killed off all the time. You may find examples and I bet I could find equal amounts of examples to counter where the opposite has occurred or where the female character is a positive and necessary contribution to a male lead throughout. I could also give you many many MANY films where there is a female lead, yes, even in the seemingly male dominated action genre.
