Puff of air? What doctors are you going to? But it's important to get your eyes checked! No other sense is more precious imo. That whole "1 or 2" is called refracting. The dr is using lenses to narrow down what the prescription will be.

Optometrist or ophthalmologist. I work as a certified ophthalmic technician, opticians are trained and certified in an optical field vs techs who work more medically. Opticians can help dr's, but it's typically for glasses and contacts. Refracting light (using lenses to see) is a very precise science, that is why optometrists need a fairly large amount of schooling for what people think is so simple. Opticians are the people who (in a nutshell) build/order the lenses and do the hands on work as well as sales. They are certified and study their field like a technician would, but it's more numbers and refracting. Plus they are usually fashionistas that can help you find a good looking set :)

Gone. If someone like you (who feels education is the answer) decides to lead this world, then I will fight for you against the idiots that disagree, and I would happily die defending that belief.
