Maybe because he realises just because there are lots of women in his new work force doesn't mean they're going to throw themselves at him just because he's a man.

As nice as it is that the dog has a loving home, they seriously have to give it some wheels/support for its' front. The damage in it's muscles and spine will be irreparable after a while, way too much pressure in the wrong place.
