For a while, "Dignity" used to be under "Casualties and Losses" for Australia.

On a semi-related note, Girls of Funsubstance: how does one compliment a girl's makeup without making it sound like you're insulting her natural appearance? Like, if a girl does a good job of making herself look pretty and I want to let her know that she has a talent for pretty use of makeup, in the same way I'd compliment an artist on their use of paint or a musician for their use of instruments, how do I say that without unintentionally implying "as opposed to when you don't wear makeup and you look terrible."

This is where the gif comes from (around 6:43). The guy said he'd have a link to the hacks in the description, but the description says the site he used is down. So...Google?

Oh yes. The weirdest one is where I somehow got separated from my parents in New York and wandered into a room with what I remember to be a bunch of businessmen having an office party with lots of booths of stuff and I took some things and left and found my parents again. The things? Promotional cards and a poster for the first Pokemon movie. The entire thing seems like it was a dream, including how my memory's "camera angle" is impossibly low and the dimensions of the room aren't consistent, yet I have the physical evidence that I was there.

Eh, it works for me. Then again, it's IMPOSSIBLE to go back to sleep when you wake up to A-0picturez from the Aldnoah.Zero soundtrack. (I rotate through songs because it's too hard to pick a single favorite, but that one's my current alarm)

Jack Reacher used that trick. He asked someone how he could speak for a minute without using the letter "a". The answer was to just start counting.

The difference is that microtransactions like the one depicted usually involve intentionally limiting a game, while cheat codes just make games easier. If a game is impossibly difficult without cheat codes but you can still play and try time and time again, that's okay. If the game is intentionally limited, slowed down or stopped, or takes parts away from the game to use as paid content (I'm talking about stuff that's clearly functional and available but locked behind a paywall, not DLC that adds to an already complete game), then your fun is held hostage until you pay up. You're right that the player ends up paying in both cases, but the difference is in how the game treats the player's access to fun.

The universe is still parallel. The person was just transformed to a new coordinate that happened to lie on the other parallel line.

Oh magneto, 8 comments

I must admit that I haven't read the comics, but from what I've heard, isn't magneto's "magnetism" more of a manipulation of molecular electromagnetic forces? In which case it doesn't matter if it's nonmetal, as long as it's matter he can manipulate it.

He played Adama on Battlestar Galactica (the reboot version). That's where the quote is from.
