Experiments like the Stanford prison experiment are illegal in America, but if there's something like it in a different country (and if the country's government doesn't care that's it's happening), researchers can make a case to go and observe it.

The green object is a mat, which Muslims use to pray. They face where Mecca is while doing so. My friends only pray during the evening, but some do it more throughout the day. The book is the Qur'an, as far as I know you don't need it to pray, but I guess the hotel puts the Qur'an like American hotels do with the Holy Bible. There's the third object, the clear thingy, which I don't recognize.
