eh. I'm not really sure if that's a good comparison, 'cause the male equivalent of //skinny// girls is more like lean bearded hipsters. "hot guy flashing his abs" is more like a girl with a superbly sculpted ass in yoga pants, and I'm pretty sure we've all seen that sort of thing before on FunSubstance.

I'm never particularly short-tempered, but I get really depressed for a few days. :/ No cramps though. :D

I don't think it's quite true to say that it "just says she doesn't need it." Yeah, it says that she doesn't need feminism. But it also equates women who DO need feminism to juveniles who are incapable of taking responsibility for themselves or their actions, who hate men and mistakenly blame them for all of their problems. And while I'm generally a fairly nice person, I have absolutely no reservations in calling someone who would do that - who would take a fucking selfie and childishly make fun of women who are unable to show an inch of skin in public, who can't leave the house without their husband's permission, who are forced to undergo female genital mutilation as children, and who fucking well need feminism - a complete and utter nitwit.

alxx - Cool, me too. :)
tylerchu - That's a really interesting perspective. Personally, I'm planning on only adopting, because I've heard that sibling groups are often overlooked, and I don't want to have more than two or three kids.

I don't know a lot about these girls, but isn't the real person at fault here their mother...? I had the impression that they were just kids who went along with what their horrible mom told them.

Well, I don't think he's referring to seeing the sun as a circle, or a slice of pizza as a triangle, if that's what you're talking about. :P You can Google his artwork; I think it's probably the best explanation of the way in which he sees the world.

pickle1600 is right - she's a legend. Maybe she (or someone like her) existed, maybe not. According to Wikipedia: "Hua Mulan or Fa Mulan (Chinese: t 花木蘭 s 花木兰) is a legendary woman warrior from ancient China who was originally described in a poem known as the Ballad of Mulan (木蘭辭). In the poem, Hua Mulan takes her aged father's place in the army. She fought for twelve years and gained high merit, but she refused any reward and retired to her hometown instead."

This is a Chinese military legend. It's not actually true, although Zhuge Liang really was a brilliant strategist.
(If you want a source, search "Empty Fort Strategy" on Wikipedia. Go down to Zhuge Liang's section.)

I'd love to hear other people's opinions on this, but personally, I don't really feel like anyone excuses obesity in our culture. I think that *overweight* people get the "love yourself, you're beautiful, etc., etc." message (which is honestly justifiable, in my opinion, because A) you're more likely to become more healthy if you have positive self-image and don't view your body as disgusting/unlovable, and B) lots of healthy people aren't skinny, because one person's "healthy weight" is often very different from another person's).
But I think that OBESE people are more likely to either be getting the (kinder) message that it's not healthy and they have a problem, or the (less kind) message that they're gross/disgusting/a whale/should kill themselves. I honestly don't feel like we, as a society, have a problem with "encouraging people to be obese." :/ If you disagree with me, I'd really like to hear your explanation.

Actually, this obviously wouldn't work. Pooh is clearly just staring at Calvin's hair (he appears to be under the mistaken impression that it's honey), and Hobbes would refuse to fight on the grounds that it's bad for his cholesterol.

Notice that she said every time he HEARS someone use the r word, not every time he IS CALLED the r word. Can you explain why you would choose to call your friends retarded, by the way? Honestly, I just don't get that. :\
