As far as I know of, they aren't a midwest thing. You can get them at Shoprite and Walmart in New Jersey, and at Food Lion in North Carolina. Personally, I would try the Walmart first, but I've seen them in most food stores. Good luck finding them!

The reason humans are not supposed to drink milk is because the enzyme lactase, that breaks down the lactose in milk, was originally only found in babies, who needed to drink their mothers' milk. People today who are not lactose intolerant actually were born with a mutation where their bodies keep producing lactase into adulthood.
