Video games = violence? 18 comments
guest · 9 years ago
Their were no video games, but there was a culture of violence.
I don't think video games are promoting violence as much as TV, but there is something disturbing in an 8 year old playing a game where they bang and then kill a hooker.

Dire wolves would NOT be awesome. We are having problems in my area with coyotes starting to stalk people and they are relatively small.

What I hate is guys who say girls shouldn't wear make-up then they choose to date the queen of the raccoons.

People don't say "you are unhealthy". They are usually ridiculing someone's appearance.

You ever try talking while getting something out of a bottom locker... it freakin' impossible. You can't have an actor doing that.

I'm sure it's a fake story, but there is this whole genre of literature called fiction. You don't have to believe in magic to enjoy Harry Potter as a story. Relax it is 30 second fiction and pretty well written.

The statue isn't offensive, but the person who posted is pretty nasty about it. "If you don't like what I like there is something wrong with you". I'm not fat, just annoyed my your self righteous, judgmental, in-your-face arrogance.

It's not marriage specifically that we take to lightly. We want our freedom to do what we want, when we want it and the cost is that we want this cheap, fast and disposable.

I totally agree with deviledapple. Personally am morally opposed to abortion and believe that mothers should be careful especially while pregnant, but if we start fining women for what they do to there bodies it is definitely only a small step away from fining them for what they eat, how much they eat, do they exersize.
We can educate, but we should not regulate a woman's body.

A surprisingly large amount of New Yorkers don't recognize Chris Pratt on the street 3 comments
guest · 9 years ago
New Yorkers are use to tuning out people's faces. It's such a dense population, you see people who look familiar who aren't. You just focus on your own tasks and getting from place to place. If some guy comes up and gets in your face, you just want him to go away.

This post is so true to life. Sexism is often subtle, but it's everywhere. The older I get the more I can see it.

Yes, everyone should be watching the new Muppets show 7 comments

I just find the new muppets to be pessimistic, far too adult in content (like boring adult stuff) and over all not funny. It's like 30 Rock, but with muppets ... but not funny.
Pretty sure she isn't a Disney Princess though... 34 comments

We should like her because she was a real person? First, the movie has little to do with actual events. Second, Mulan might have been a real person... and that's pretty crazy

This seems like something a self centered mother wrote. As a child, I was rarely rude to my parents, but I don't think I was sad about it when I was.
When my boss fires me and doesn't tell me 6 comments

... I always wonder what is on the other side of these stories. As an employer, I can tell you it is usually difficult to actually fire someone. In most cases, it takes multiple documented offenses. On top of that, hiring and training are a big time suck.

Food is like language it is used and changed by the user. It doesn't make it less because it is not exactly what you would be served by someone's grandmother from that country. It's why Italians serve gelato with Chinese food... calm yourself.

When he says its worse than harder drugs, I think it is that the effect is subtle and kids think its not hurting them. Harder drugs, you know you are doing something destructive.
Honestly it is the same with alcohol. I like a drink, but it damages you body and slows you down. It's really not something teens should be consuming.

It seems like the fact that he hesitates before putting his hands on her shows a certain level of respect. Then again, I am from New England and we tend to be reserved about physical contact.

I get really irritated when people say telling someone they can be comfortable in their own skin when they are obese will make them stay obese. Obesity is often compounded by people feeling hopeless and worthless. If you can feel good about you, you are more willing to take care of yourself.
As a curvy girl, I know I will never be a thin, but I watch what I eat and hop on the elliptical and I feel good about me. You don't want to date me, that's cool, but fuck you if you think me being chubby makes me useless.
However, if you are bugging someone in a bar, they can TOTALLY make whale noises at you!!! LOL

Retail does make you anticipate what you are going to be dealing with.. However, you are only racist / bad at your job if you are not opening to being wrong about your initial assessment. As a manager I prejudge people, but then I offer assistance and listen to what they tell me, rather than just assuming.

So the "stuff" in the air can be particals caused by pollution or dust or volcanic ash or just water. So it is not specifically pollution.
So before responding to someone's positive facebook post with your second grade level knowledge of science... maybe stop and think "Do I really need to be a dick today?".

Just because people who get their news from facebook don't know about all his charitable work, doesn't mean the rest of us don't. Melissa and Bill are well known Philanthropists. They invest in real world solutions to poverty. They don't just thrown money around. They are also incredibly humble about their giving.
