Sorry, Maezilla, but I'm afraid the English language develops and changes whether we want it to or not. For what it's worth, though, I'm with you. Every time I hear someone say something about eating 'organic' I want to suggest a lump of graphite. I wish they could use another word for 'grown/produced with no nasty stuff' but, alas, 'tis the fate of a living language to change like this.

God doesn't hate gays. He just doesn't like what you're doing and would prefer it if you stopped. But He did make it your choice and you are pretty dang cute.

Atheism a religion 16 comments

"[Atheism] is a religious position. Indeed a true atheist thinks of the gods constantly, albeit in terms of denial. Therefore atheism is a form of belief. If the atheist truly did not believe, he or she would not bother to deny." - Terry Pratchett

Here's an idea: Give the power of deciding minimum wage to the states so that each state can set the min to the cost of living in that state because, shocker, the cost of living in each state is different! It can even differ from city to city sometimes.

TL;DR V2: An almighty entity gets really lonely and creates beings capable of free will 'cause He wants them to love Him by choice not by force. Because true love must be a choice, He allows them to do the things, knows that they will do the things, and waits for them to choose to try not to do the things anymore because that will mean that they have chosen to love Him with full understanding of what it's like to do the things. Afterwards they will still do the things because they are not yet perfect, but now that they have accepted Him and the price He paid for them they will one day become perfect. While they're here, though, they should still try not to do the things because the reason He says not to do the things is because the things are what f*** us up big-time.

See, here's the problem I have: Guns are SUPPOSED to be dangerous, that's what they're for. That's the whole point. They are not meant to be anything else and everyone is, or at least should be, well aware of how dangerous they are. Chocolate, on the other hand, is NOT supposed to be dangerous. Chocolate is wonderful. Chocolate is amazing. And I am totally against anything that taints the awesomeness of chocolate by somehow making it dangerous. However, unless the manufacturers put some kind of harmful chemical in that chocolate, I find myself reading this as a social comment on how some people will go so far as to put a company out of business in order to dodge responsibility for their own negligence/stupidity (coughBuckyBallscough), rather than as an anti-gun poster. But maybe that's just me. Still, I feel like we're comparing apples to potatoes here. Guns are weapons, chocolate is food. See the difference?

To the idea of Nephilim: Think about it for a second. If these beings existed in the past then we would have evidence. But if they existed today as well, possibly in a somewhat diminished state (perhaps even intentionally so so they could hide better), then they absolutely would not want anyone to know about it. And with skulls possessing a 25% greater brain capacity than humans, they'd have the intelligence to hide the evidence. And with a history of being worshiped by us dumb humans, they'd have made sure they had the political connections to make it happen.
Kind of hoping/wishing it isn't true 'cause without some almighty entity of absolute power and boundless love on our side we are so screwed.

There's also a difference between being a hypocrite and being someone who recognizes their own flaws. Hypocrites don't own up. However it feels like this guy took a look at his own behavior first, said 'this ain't right', and now wants to help other people out of the trap that he got into. Aside from that, pegleg0423 is right. If he wasn't one of the people he's talking about, then how would he know _what_ he's talking about? Who would listen to him? It'd be like a non-smoker berating someone for smoking. _They_ don't have that problem, so how could they possibly understand how hard it is to stop?
