In rally you drive once along a route, instead of multiple laps where you can memorise the corners, so the co-driver makes notes (before the race) about the distance between corners and the approximate speed that the driver can handle. They will also include warnings on track, like if there is a ditch inside the corner, don't cut it too close, or if there is a water crossing.
