It's one or the other. You either take the test every two years, or you get a modified licence. You also need to take a medical every twelve months once you turn 75.

"Older drivers and riders can opt to have a modified licence or to undertake an assessment every two years from the age of 85 (ie 85, 87, 91 etc) to hold an unrestricted licence."
