Your true self is not who you are, but who you are when things get tough. The fact remains that these old folk were left to die by people who had proper training, because money was more important. If everyone walked away, there would be murder (or at least neglectful death) investigations on everyone, but two good men with no training whatsoever made sure only owners and management would be charged. They were also the ones to notify the police, everyone else simply left. 16 people could have died, and if they did, would you still say the workers were blameless?

Iirc, the home went bankrupt and the same day management abandoned the place. All but two of the staff refused to work without pay. For three days these real heroes cooked, cleaned and even tried their best to dispense meds correctly, even paying for new supplies out-of-pocket. And by cleaned, I mean they bathed some of the elderly that couldn't take care of themselves. Finally the authorities got involved and rehomed the elderly and criminal charges are probably going to be filled against the owners and management. The other employees *technically* didn't do anything wrong, but they did oust themselves as worthless human beings.
