I hope they bought their nun-chucks

As an Australian this is very true. I remember a case were a young child had his whole eye ripped out by a magpie. Severe injuries are rare but they do happen.
You will see people walking around or riding their bikes with crazy things on the head to stop them swooping. Someone even sold helmets with big googley eyes on the back.
