If those books are being censored because blacks can't stand hearing the N-word that's used in those books, and we also need to censor just about every rap song. Your typical rap song uses the N-word more times than most of those books.

What's funny is, books used to be banned by arch conservatives who didn't like what some books had to say. Now, it's the crowd that always preached "tolerance" that wants books banned. They they are offended, or more commonly, offended for someone else on their behalf.
This is one way politically correctness is ruining the country. At some point we may forget that words like that were commonly used even though they were denigrating to a certain group of people.

You don't get to decide what free speech is for me unless I get to decide what free speech os for you. If you get to squelch what someone says or expresses because you don't consider it free speech bu celebrating a despicable regime, then you are definitely deciding what speech is appropriate.

Automotive safety engineer here. The air bags have to deploy that quickly because they need to be fully inflated so that when your face or chest hits one, it's going to,start deflating. They have to,deploy in 100 milliseconds, which is about how fast you blink.
There are several things we could do to make cars even safer, like five point safety harnesses, but we have a hard enough time getting people to use the three point harnesses. Making other improvements affects the styling, and then people won't buy the cars. Seriously, we can't even point out that you have to do reasonable things like get your feet off the instrument panel without someone not liking it.

What kind of job does one get with a degree in women's studies major? Is there anything that it's useful for other than to find cases of discrimination whether it exists or not? In other words do you take a job we're the only justification of your job is to find instances of gender bias whether they exist or not?
There are scholarships available for women but not men, but I haven't seen any scholarships that are available for men only. 51% of college degrees are now awarded to women. Seems like we've bent over backwards to make sure women have at least a fair chance and in most cases a better chance than men from the same economic background. So what on earth is she going to do with her life?

I get the sentiment that you should work for happiness rather than money. But it doesn't make sense that if you love knitting you would love owning a knitting supply shop. Running a business is nothing like actually knitting. You see a lot of chefs start a restaurant and they spend next to zero time creating food because all of their time is spent in the normal businessman tasks of hiring personnel , Getting supplies dealing with bureaucrats making sure you meet all the local regulations etc. etc.

Nominated several times for a Nobel Peace Prize....never awarded one though.
Interesting that Obama was given one "for what he was going to do," and Al Gore got one for making a movie about global warming.

How do you know they don't? Plenty churche.s support shelters, food banks and soup kitchens but also have comfortable buildings for their members to sit in to worship. It sounds like BS, by somebody who believes that helping people should be the governments job, that is, always somebody else not their own responsibility. People who do nothing project that onto others who are actually doing something but don't make a big show of doing so.

The word "protect" is definitely an opinion and can be biased. To be unbiased it would say "allow us to continue." A lot of people dislike Planned Parenthood because they push abortions more than anything else and many people don't consider it just another form of birth control. A lot of people really dislike Planned Parenthood because of the way they sold aborted baby body parts . So "protected" makes it seem like it's under some unreasonable assault when the people who are trying to defund Planned Parenthood are doing it for what they consider very legitimate reasons.
Maybe a completely neutral aspect on Planned Parenthood would be if it were supported only by donations, meaning supported by people who agree with their mission, rather than being supported by the federal government which forces people who disagree with that to pay for it anyway.

Nerdsarecool is majoring in criminal justice, but somehow the university he/she Is at teaches that crime is caused by police brutality? Maybe one of the reasons there aren't more universities built is that the ones now are teaching some pretty faulty logic in place of reality.

Why is this code for "reduce the white population" in the west, which is like 1.6 or 1.8 children per couple (which isn't even "replacement level") and doesn't apply to the Middle East and Africa, where it would be deemed "racist," even though those are the areas overpopulating. The Middle East is even sending "refugees" (mostly young men, not families) to practically colonize the west. Let's start with reducing the population of THEM!
If that's uncomfortable to hear, just who do you think we should reduce the population of?

Stalin didn't target Jews in the same was as Hitler, but he killed plenty. To the objection about who was killed, I don't see how "killing innocents" is worse because it targets a religion (like Hitler) vs. social groups, ethnicities or political views (like Stalin).
The US didn't have starvation camps to kill the Japanese in WW2. The Japanese immigrants & their 1st generation American children were put somewhere far from the cost because people were worried about their loyalty. It turns out that was wrong, but WW2 was a lot closer of a victory than it seems in hindsight. So, who could take the chance? I admit that it turns out to have been a mistake, but it's asinine to bring this up in a discussion of genocide and mass murder.
Pol Pot killed two million of his people...in a country that started out with a population of five million! Some were killed because they had glasses, which implies they were educated, for which it follows that they would be against Pol Pot's programs.

That's incredible how you don't let your beliefs impact your world view in any way. Most people's definitions of right and wrong are defined by their beliefs, yet somehow your actions are independent of that. Maybe that guy who raped that passed-out woman did the same...rape may be wrong, but he didn't let his beliefs interfere with his actions.
Look, I don't believe in restricting a woman's "right to choose," but if you believe (as many Christians do) that the unborn baby is a life, how can you NOT think abortion is wrong? Otherwise,it's like saying "I believe murder is wrong, but if your beliefs are different, that's OK!"
I know that nobody would change their views on abortion thanks to this reply, but at least see that:
1. Those mean old Christians aren't trying so much to infringe on your body but protect (what they see as) an innocent life,
2. It's pretty stupid to say your world view isn't influenced by your beliefs.
Logic Police out.

There has been Climate change for millennia, and it hadn't been caused by human kind because humans didn't exist for the first billions of years. There is plenty of evidence that shows that the north American plains were once underwater. Do you think that somehow a few billion years ago pollution caused by man was the source of that climate change? If there's regulations to make the air cleaner then I can get behind that, But the current global warming alarmists want to take over huge chunks of the economy and make regulations that don't make any sense like limiting CO2 output. Also, if you look at pictures of China, they have so much visible pollution that people wear surgical masks and they stand in front of giant photos of scenic spots because the pollution is so bad you can't see across a bay or something to see the real scene. It doesn't make sense to destroy The US economy or a European economy to achieve a 1% improvement when you've got visible smoke and smog elsewhere.

The tax code gives deductions, exemptions and credits to encourage certain actions. So, businessmen and taxpayers take advantage of those legal choices to reduce their taxes. Trump paid little in taxes because he played the game by the rules the government set. If you dislike the rules, fault those who made them...like Senator Sanders and Senator Clinton.

As a homeowner here's what heavy rain means to me:
-The Yard will get really wet so the septic drain field won't be able to take as much water to drain, and we may have trouble flushing the toilets.
-My roof might leak where the shingles need to be repaired, stain the ceiling in a spot, cause mold to grow, and encourage rot.
-That neighbor's branch that hangs over the house Might break loose and take out my gutter.
