Friends of mine used to have russian street musicians stay in their house during their stay in summer, and they always brought chocolate as a thank-you gift and I dunno, it really tasted awful, all frowsty and more like some dried up insulating compound than candy, and the dark chocolate looked pretty much like on the picture. I don't know if that's representative for russian chocolate but in our circle "russian chocolate" is a synonym for "Yuck!"
