I have no idea of the political background there, but there were no asteroids mentioned in historical documents. The rebellion won because of bad tactics from the other side, and the weather just turned bad all in a sudden when the army started to flee. Strong Wind was mentioned in historic documents but I'm afraid not asteroids. Nonetheless, it is just a very amazing battle.
