Not an enzyme, it has the potential for botulism spores. After approximately 6 months of age, babies have developed sufficient GI flora to handle the spores. The CDC tacks an extra six months onto their recommendation, just to be sure. Not all countries/cultures follow this practice, but in the US, it is generally recommended to wait until a babe is one year old to have honey. Type of honey doesn’t matter—raw, pasteurized, powdered, all honey has potential for botulism spores.
