Check out local law, if you didn't ask for it or give some kind of general permission, perhaps you don't have to pay for it. Or maybe just talk to them when you drop your car for service about your and their definition of neccessary work...
Also be aware of selling tricks like spraying oil on the dampers to make them look like they're leaking (ask for cleaning and some time to think about it if the driving feels ok), or telling you the brake pads are low (manufacturers give certain measurements which may differ from car to car, but if the friction part is more than 5mm and there is no edge on the brake disc- go get a second opinion).
