Same with themasssnipe, I'm in college and am expected to spend much more than 40 hours a week. Even if it's not a tough degree. I don't know about other schools, but at mine it's expected that you spend between 2 to 3 hours outside of class per credit-hour. So at 12 credits (minimum for full-time student at my school) you're probably spending more than 40 hours per week, and at 14 credits and above you're pretty much guaranteed to be spending more than 40 hours a week.
