Most of the languages listed (with the expection of German and English) are Romance languages. Germanic languages, (Such as German, English, Dutch, Danish, Norwegian, etc.) tend to have rougher tones compared to Romance languages. In Dutch, for example, the word for science is 'Wetenschap'.
