My sister posted this on Facebook as she's had depression and eating disorders for most of her life and our mum responded by saying it's all in your head and a positive outlook can make a huge difference....
I appreciate the idea that positive thinking CAN make a difference but she didn't understand at all that her comment was the EXACT point of the post.
"You have a broken leg? Oh, have you tried just not have a broken leg?" Would never be used as medical advice so why is it acceptable to use "have you tried NOT being depressed" to a person with depression?
I love this post because in my experience it is definitely true (but obviously won't be for all)
Peace out guys!
