I can absolutely relate!
In the german part of Switzerland they learn German as a foreign language and Switzerdütsch, which is a dialect, is the main language. A German person gets a headache from hearing Switzerdütsch because it has nothing in common with German: grammar, spelling, everything is different and it is funny because the official language is German so actually they should be able to speak Hochdeutsch, so German, but most of them aren’t but they get mad at you if you don’t speak Switzerdütsch which actually is no official language. In Germany if you aren’t able to speak German but only dialect, for example Bavarian, then you belong to the most uneducated persons...
I know because I’m a German living in Switzerland and it still drives me crazy so this post definitely isn’t racist.
