Absolute true fact in the USA. And the majority of shelters for abused spouses won't even take men. And in the whole continental US there is only ONE shelter for men. One.

So. If I am guessing correctly, some Sangoma (African witch doctor) probably came up with this story, and let's be honest, these are the same people who use the body parts of Albinos in twisted rituals. And prescribe Draino for a sore stomach (this I know for a fact, the woman didn't make it)
