I'm a high school sociology teacher. I just finished teaching my students about "the Family in Sociology". And I can tell you that from a Functionalist viewpoint, almost all 10 of those things are the responsibility of the Family.

Oh yeah. Lots of US schools say the Pledge of Allegiance every day, but as far as I can tell only Texas makes kids the state pledge too.

As a high school teacher I can tell you this is a major problem with students today. Any reading longer than a paragraph and they just won't read it.
