Lazy? I disagree. Perhaps tile would be inappropriate and/or not economical for the project. This way, they are not sacrificing beauty because they can't afford tile. I would say this is creative.

Rock on! Your bravery (and that of others in same/similar situations) is awesome. People are not meant to be cookie-cutter creatures. However uncomfortable it may be to meet someone who is different, I try to remember we're all different, though perhaps not obviously so.

Something jerks should keep in mind, if their mothers didn't need tampons or something equivalent, none of them would be here. That thought has stopped embarrassment for me in the "personal hygiene" aisle and elsewhere.
