There was also the difference between CD-R and CD-RW. CD-RW was kind of like a flashdrive, because you could write and overwrite it as much as you wanted. Once you wrote to a CD-R, though, that was it. Better hope you didn't make a mistake in your playlist or you had to buy another CD.

....but calling someone "white" or "Asian" is not the same as calling someone "Chinese." "White" is a completely appropriate catchall for the 30+ European nations. "Chinese" is a reference to the citizens of China....like what?!?!

I got one just like that. The squiggles are not inscriptions, rather just some whimsical designs to lighten the amount of gold....its just a 22k gold ring, nothing special unless you consider the atomic structure of gold and how it does not interact with water, oxygen, nitrogen or carbon then that is a bit fascinating with all its electrons, neutrons and protons

Bel Aire, NJ is an hour from Philly by cab. L.A. is 40 hours by cab. Which seems more probable?

The problem is, we have tied tax benefits and other government incentives to a religious practice of marriage. The solution would be to either remove those benefits entirely or label thse marriages as something else.

Your insurance bill is due 19 comments

My 3 year-old nephew has CP and it is a constant struggle with the insurance company not wanting to supply "non-basic healthcare needs". A lot of it is not about being a convenience, its about allowing him to become mobile and independent so as he gets older he doesn't need round the clock care because he is able to do things for himself. In many cases, if insurance companies took the long view, these "conveniences" would cost them less in long term care.

Not just religious organizations, most non-profits don't pay taxes. But yes, pick out one small piece of the pie and make them evil....

French guy here: this is not a tragedy. People freezing to death in our streets is a tragedy. The government not giving a damn about the population's problems is terrible. And CEOs of horrible companies seizing this «opportunity» to improve their public image by donating for the rebuilding of Notre-Dame, knowing that more than half their donation is given back to them on tax cuts, is obscene.

BIONICLE memes had me here for far too long trying to figure out what extra joke there is involving Kopaka, but I'm starting to think the mememaker just coincidentally chose him as a random toy.
