I didn't mean to sound hostile, I apologize if I did, and I'm glad we actually agree even through this slight miscommunication (or rather misunderstanding on my part). Yeah, the collecting nudes thing in the first game was, apart from the fact that the game was virtually unplayable, what really made me part with the series. I'm not against nudity/sex in games/series/movies etc. in itself at all, but I am against it when it's overused to gain attention – as you said, over the top fan service. And yes female writers are also absolutely guilty of this, especially when it comes to the social status and wealth of the characters. We can't really blame men or women but rather the stereotypes/gender roles that are so deeply ingrained in our culture that people still, knowingly or unknowingly, perpetuate them.
Yeah we could go on for hours and I'm not even sure that this problem has a solution, really. I thought that artists would know better than that but how can they when it clearly sells?

Superman is more than his superstrength. He's still Clark Kent, the shy retiring guy who just wants to maintain his low profile throughout life. The more he goes out as Superman, the likelier his cover will be blown and the life he's built for himself will be over. Still, he goes out to help people nonetheless because he can. If that's not brave, tell me what is. This is from my point of view as an introvert so I could be biased.

It doesn't matter WHY, just that people signal their pro-woman stance. People--EVEN WOMEN--may go to a movie based on the star, but that doesn't matter. Stop trying to inject reality into this line of reasoning. The point is, maybe pizza delivery person #6 has the same impact regardless of gender, but the star or co-stars don't. People will go see Benadryl Cumberbund in greater numbers than most actresses, and if the movie should get a woman with greater prestige or "drawing power," why shouldn't she get more money?

Every female character is either a fuckdoll for the male protagonist or a Mary Sue with extremely overpowered abilities, the only match for which is of course their beauty, because a strong female character must NEVER be ugly in the eyes of many writers (female writers included). It's pretty clear why the books and games are so popular with teenage nerdy boys. A) the amount of sex scenes, some of which honestly feel...forced. Like they were put there just to gain the reader's attention, and of course horny teenagers enjoy that. B) a lot of these nerds don't get laid due to many factors, internal and external alike. They envy the jocks, the so-called "alphas" who do get laid. These books and games provide a perfect outlet for them, in this world they can BE the alpha they so despise irl. Maybe my view is a bit too Freudian but honestly, I read the books (partly) and played the games (also partly, they were meh), and I truly see no other explanation for their immense popularity. (2/2)

@xvarnah I think that that's a bit unfair to GRRM, seeing as this was just one moment in the entirety of the books, the shortest of which is 800 pages. I think that GRRM, albeit he has some weak moments, is generally quite good at writing female characters.
But think that there are other writers you can demonstrate your point with. For example the Witcher books and short stories that were the inspiration for the games. I tried reading them, I legitimately gave them a chance, and they are interesting books overall, but Sapkowski's portrayal of female characters (which is then very well reflected in the games) is just... idk. Like he's stuck in the 50's but at the same time he's trying so hard not to seem that way. (1/2)

Oh, yeah, scouting programs should be "separate but equal." Cause that plan always works out well... Women should have the same chances as men. If they can't keep up, fine. But if they can, they should be given the opportunity to do so. And, I believe you'll find that the Boy Scouts will be better for it in the long run.
Maybe you should look at what the Supreme Court had to say about that kind of thing in United States v. Virginia, or, you know, Brown v. Board of Education.

This was my English teacher for my senior year of highschool. Some particular students were very good at getting him monologuing, and they'd team up to do it in revenge for some of the things they didn't like about his teaching style or their grades. The conversations usually turned to whether or not he'd have sex with a certain character in the book we were analyzing. (It was senior year English, every book had something to do with societal opinions on violence, money, and extramerital sex)

You mean that you think that our sun is the only source of light?
If you take the bible literally, the plants and animals were created after the sun. If you take that stuff figuratively, the order is still the same and matches with what science tells us.

That's one of the easiest ways to tell if someone is lying. Typically, if there's nothing to gain by lying people don't do it, because it is more difficult to lie (you have to work your brain more) than to just tell things as they are.
