"La" also means the in French. Objects have genders in French, so you use "le" or "la" depending on if it is masculine (le) or feminine (la). For example, "la porte" means the door, because doors are apparently feminine. You would say "le livre" when referring to a book because books are masculine. It's a bit confusing.

Actually, fictitious characters are worse because you know it will never happen, so you spend many a'nights sobbing over the love that will never be.

Actually in a lot of European counties young children often have a small glass of wine with dinner, thus teaching them reasonable portion sizes and alcohol responsibiliy. Unlike here in America, where one turns 21 and often goes on a ludicrous drinking spree and gets totally wasted.
