I mean, yes that’s fked up. Not sure how people even get these ideas and decisions. But imagine if it’s just same as when the first person got piercing/tattoo and everyone were freaking out, and in like 100yrs, this sht becomes so normal.

It's not disrespecting you to expect you to do a chore once in a while likes pick up your clothes so mom can vacuum or mow the lawn so dad can repair "your car" (which is really the car they own and insure, but is dedicated for your use).
"When you get home from school, could you pick up sticks in the yard so I can mow when I get home from working and grocery shopping?"

This may be a difficult concept, but your parents are (probably) adults, taxpayers and homeowners, while the children are occupants of the living space they pay for and consumers of the goods and services they pay for, like food, utilities and auto insurance. If you really want to live your own life with the freedom to make all your own decisions, do,so as an adult--that is, you pay for your own expenses and provide your own resources...and not in their house. As Sheldon said, "Mi cathedral, mi regula."

But she overdosed..that is evidence. I remember reading in the news about a white girl who overdosed and died, from drugs her white boyfriend gave her, and the drug dealer (black) got sentenced. Sometimes it is about race and gender. Being in denial doesn't help change things. Thanks.

Could be wrong, but I think that you and I come from different cultures. In my culture, putting your parents in a home or not taking care of them is simply unheard of. It's seen as something utterly reprehensible.
Sure, my parents physically disciplined me when I was growing up, but that's just how it is. I don't hate them for it.
Although, I must say, physically disciplining your child and beating your child are two seperate things.
