I'm American (Born and raised in New York City) but my dad is Muslim so I had to wear the hijab once I became a young pre-teen. But that was only after moving to the Middle East for a year & having to live that full lifestyle as most Muslims do that we're raised there. At the time I was okay with it until after being back in America I started to miss being able to style my hair & not covering it up. But my dad was strict and always told me that I needed to always wear it outside. But thankfully, even though it took many years, my dad finally gave me the okay to not wear it. My dad is somewhat open minded for an Arab & I am glad for that since not many Arab girls have it that easy. But it did take him 9 years to let me have my freedom with that though (I'm turning 19 next month). Im sorry for the long comment but I just wanted to share my story. Some Muslim women like to wear all of that from head to toe but I hope that more Muslim girls get to actually choose for themselves more often.
