But the gist of it is that some kid wants respect from his peers and gets it by smacking around the Socially Incompetent Kid (there's always one). And when Socially Incompetent Kid asks an adult how to make it stop, the adult usually tells them that the bully is just insecure (which is true) and that they should pity the bully (which is slightly less true), and if they're just polite and act like the bigger man, the problem will go away (which is a steaming pile of bullshit).

It's not unreasonable as such, just insignificant. I'm not saying it doesn't make sense to use the bathroom with your gender sign on it - I'm saying the reason has nothing to do with physiology. Or genitals. 'Cause they're the same damn bathrooms, bar a few largely insignificant details.

You do remember that none of us do this at home, right? I mean, you've presumably shared a bathroom with a significant other or a parent. You had two sinks and a special trash can for menstrual stuff? Or a special purse shelf for women only, Mr. Stuck-in-1940?

Oh come on. Madame bags and an extra sink wouldn't inconvenience a man trying to use the ladies room any more than the presence of a urinal would inconvenience a woman trying to use the men's. This is NOT a design issue.

How is a bathroom designed for a woman any different than one designed for a man, barring the urinal?! This is why I asked that at the very beginning: how many different kinds of toilet do they have where you come from?
And if they've always had stalls, that makes even less sense. You've never had to SEE each other undress and still don't, so why are the bathrooms divvied up by gender anyway, if not to make each gender more comfortable?

Also, wow, it just occurred to me that they would be breaking the actual god damn law by going into the wrong toilet. What the hell, America...

That doesn't answer the question, though. These days American workplaces presumably have an appropriate amount of bathrooms, and they are divvied up by gender for, near as I can tell, modesty reasons. I presume people felt uncomfortable taking their clothes off in front of strangers at the best of times, and in front of the opposite sex it would be even worse. And I'm guessing they didn't have stalls back then, which we do today. So I hope you can see why trannies would really rather use the bathrooms that make them the least uncomfortable, and screw what the law says.

Also, what do you mean bathrooms aren't there to make us feel comfortable. That's literally the only reason they distinguish them by gender. There isn't a practical reason, near as I can tell.

I mean I can sort of see how it would be annoying from a functional standpoint if women were expected to pee standing up, but otherwise, I fail to see what the fucking problem is. Didn't we grow out of the purile ew-the-other-gender-is-icky thing in grade school?
