We met at school and became fast friends. I was happy with that for a couple of years, but the more I got to know her the more I liked her. Allow me to make myself clearer. The military is mostly conservative and/or Republican. I may be defensive of right wing viewpoints, but I am not ignorant of our flaws.

We are not talking about Walmart or the Post Office. This is the United States Military here. If a soldier, sailor, marine, or airman is going to throw a fit or disturb team dynamics over something that many still consider to be a mental illness, people WILL die.
