Ya unfortunately it can be a bit of a process and takes a lot of land and come resources to 'convert' an africanized colony. Its not easy to do, you either can do it slowly over a period of 1-2 years or over a week. I had done it once over a week and it was pretty intense.

Yep its a big problem and complex because there isn't just one single cause, there are several.

It is more than just GMO's. My bees are in an area where GMO's aren't allowed and they get tested. There are diseases that have gotten out of hand that affect bees really bad, that's how I lost several of my hives.

So the Africanized gene is a recessive gene that causes anxiety and aggression. Best way to get rid of them without causing harm to the ecosystem is to breed bees that aren't Africanized to interbred with them and take out the gene.

So I read an article from someone saying this could potentially be bad, but there was no specifics in the article, didn't mention flower types or regions or anything. I know that they did use a company (Veseys Seeds) thats a certified organic company. Does anyone know of any links that shows specifics? I looked up the plants that are in the free packets and none of them are listed as invasive by the US Dept of Agriculture.
