The left one looks more female. My husband designed an experiment in undergrad testing the hypothesis that we interpret greater contrast between features and surrounding skin (i.e. lips) as belonging to females. I think the differences in these images bear that out too...

Hahahaha!! Indeed. I recall reading something on the subject in the Smithsonian Magazine. It makes sense, I guess, since some of their closest-living relatives are birds. Hard to find soft-tissue preservation to prove the theory tho--if that helps your brain recover...
