I sincerely hope your last comment is sarcasm. The Greek pantheon (supposedly) committed some pretty terrible atrocities. Their followers did much the same. The fact that these gods aren't proven to exist makes the actions of their followers even more of a debatable subject.

Humans have historically been a violent, malicious race. It's no secret we've burned people at the stake for being witches, tortured people, and sacrificed them in the name of a god or gods.
However, back then, that was fairly normal. Often, these were times of celebration and victory over a perceived threat. People would watch someone being guillotined for the same reason we watch gory movies, real crime documentaries, and ISIS beheadings on YouTube.
As time changes, poeple's idea of "normal" and "evil" changes. Religion should also change along with it and it (somewhat) has.
Those who adapt their faith and respect and love their fellow man should never be discriminated against. There are, of course, those who do not adapt and use their faith as an excuse to justify their own hatred. I completely understand that these people are evil and should be punished, but they are not ALL people.

What the fuck? I CLEARLY stated I don't support people who use their religion as a weapon. I just don't believe that we should lump all religious people together because there are good people who happen to believe in a god or gods.

I'm aware a lot of the fundamentals do, but again, a lot of people don't practice like that! Those texts are extremely outdated.
My own motto is basically: if it doesn't harm anyone, do what you want.
So, obviously, I don't agree with a lot of religious people, but I do try to respect the ones who are actually ok.

There will always be good people and bad people in every community. We shouldn't hate an entire group of people for the actions of a few.

I'm a bit shocked about how far you've taken my comment.
1. I never implied that beauty cannot exist outside of religion. I was just saying that it was extraordinary that something as vague as a few books could inspire people so much.
2. What the hell? Terrorism? All I said was that we should be more accepting towards others and not insult ALL religion. Anti-vaxers, ACTUAL terrorists, and other people that use religion to justify their hatred are obviously not the people I support. However, if you incorporate science and modern advancements into your faith, are respectful towards others, and are a decent person, you should be allowed to do what you want!
3. Again, not every religious person follows their sacred texts so strictly. Most of them are modernizing their beliefs to fit the modern times. I dislike those who nitpick for their own agenda, but that's a different argument.
4. Yes, religion doesn't have a good past, but almost nothing does.

@kurama_otsutsuki Faith is about sticking to your beliefs when you are faced with opposition. What I meant was that any force strong enough to produce so many wonderful things can't be all bad.
