But aren't these two very different types if animation? It still falls under the category of animation, but wasn't Life of Pi CGI? And the first one of course was actual animation, like a cartoon. Sorry if I sound rude... I just wanted to say something.

CGI is still animation. Just as difficult as drawing it by hand. Actually... Scratch that. MORE difficult than drawing it.

They both are difficult but they're pretty different mediums as well. The new CGI technology is incredible but it's not like the animators got that much better at drawing in the same way the first tiger is drawn.

They should have set up better examples.. Such as two screenshots of movies that BOTH used CGI in 1992 and in 2012.

No, it's not. It's computer generated. Amazing isn't it? How realistic we can make things? Bengals aren't quite so pale, though. There's a bit more orange to them. Less yellow.
